Sewing

say hello to my littttllleee friend....
I honestly have no idea whether this is a good sewing machine or not..
but after discussion with the lady at Joann Fabrics..
she heard that I had not sewn since 7th grade
suggested I start with a "beginner" sewing machine..

So, I unpacked this beaut..and started reading the manual..
threading the bobbin..doesn't seem so hard..
well...
a few (insert mild cuss words) later I realized that it is hard..
Before I threw the sewing machine in the trash
Russ (who also has not sewn since home ec in middle school)
helped me get it set up..
then made me practice on paper since I was still a little *crazy*..

So, I decided to decorate all of my burp clothes for some practice

I have also been trying to make bibs..but so far
its just a hot mess..

I want to try and make this dress for the girls for easter

in pink of course!!!!

Love Dare

So, today is Day One of the

We started this last night
and I LOVE IT

Having twins (or kids in general) is hard on your marriage
it's the thing no one tells you
or really wants to talk about
but its
REALLY
HARD

So Russ and I decided to challenge ourselves
to grow together regardless of how hard and exhausting life can be
because NEWSFLASH
*something* will always be making life hard

SO,

Day One- Love is Patient
(it felt like on the old TV movies when God writes in fire the Ten Commandments)
SERIOUSLY!
could I have needed this any more?
patience in NO way comes naturally to me..
I am a fast thinker, mover, and talker...

So my favorite part of what we read last night:
"Patience helps you give your spouse permission to be human.
It understands that everyone fails.
When a mistake is made, it chooses to give them
more time than they deserve to correct it.
It gives you the ability to hold on during the tough times in your relationship
rather than bailing under the pressure....
Few of us do patience very well, and none of us do it naturally.
But wise men and women will pursue it as an essential ingredient to their marriage.
That is a good starting point to demonstrate true love"

Day One Challenge?
FOR THE NEXT DAY, RESOLVE TO SAY NOTHING NEGATIVE TO YOUR SPOUSE
AT ALL.
IF THE TEMPTATION ARISES, CHOOSE NOT TO SAY ANYTHING.
IT'S BETTER TO HOLD YOUR TONGUE THAN TO SAY
SOMETHING YOU'LL REGRET LATER.

I have seen Russ for a total of 1.3 minutes today
so far so good..

Nicknames

I am pretty sure Lilly and Elise will never learn their names
because we normally call them one of the following
Lilly
Lillianne Addison
Lillers
Lulu
Lil
Lils
Little Snuz (she was the smallest at birth)
Big Snuz (at their 4 month she is bigger)
Little Monkey
Stinkerstinks

Elise
Annelise Avery
Leece
Leecers
Leecy
Big Snuz
Little Snuz (see above)
Big Bear

I can see how this may confuse them just a little

Amazing

God's Word never  fails to amaze me.
Especially since I have been away from it for a while.

Ever since the girls were born my devotions and prayers have very simply been
"GOD GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO MAKE IT THROUGH TODAY"

we still attend church weekly but now sit in the back with friends that have babies
while taking care of two of our own
very fun and entertaining at times
but I still feel spiritually empty when I leave...

This emptiness has been reflected in many areas of my life
Snapping at Russ
Exhausted with the girls needs
Over emotional
and the list goes on...

After a *complicated* (to say the least :) delivery
many sleepless nights (and days)
the mental and physical energy needed in caring for two babies
we are just now starting to find a balance...
its been a LONG road

The most important thing we noticed was missing?
G.O.D
when did we start putting him last?
how do I have time to facebook, chat on the phone, do laundry
but no time to spend in prayer?

So Russ and I spent each night this weekend
in bed
reading out of God's Word
and it felt SO good!

We read Mark 9:30-10:12 and this just JUMPED out at me
"Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "If anyone wants to be first,
he must be the very last, and the servant of all."

Now that I am home with two littles it is very easy to get wrapped up in myself
and forget that the reason I am on this earth
is to SERVE
to put others needs before my own

It was like God was telling me..
"Ok..now its time to put me first again..put others first.."
its the key to not walking through life feeling empty.

and to also make my weekend great
Russ brought me these beautiful flowers
I love this man!!!!
