Driveway

This week we got a driveway!
May not sound that exciting to some..until you watched your toddlers trip
in the gravel 20 times a day..then you appreciate a smooth driveway!

Here are some before pictures:

and the AFTER:

next project is getting rid of our white carpet in the dining room.
it only took two toddlers to make it more of a shade of tan in a month and a half
that we have lived here
We are going with a practical laminate that should be MUCH easier to clean!

Summertime Chicken

Well, it may really never be summer in WI
but this chicken is great anytime!

Its perfect for picnics and parties, either hot or cold!

Ingredients:
1-1/2 c. sourdough cheese croutons, crushed
1-1/2 c. honey mustard salad dressing, divided
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced in strips
2 T. orange juice

Spread crushed croutons on wax paper; set aside. Spoon half the dressing into a shallow bowl; set aside. Dip chicken in dressing; coat in croutons. Arrange on ungreased baking sheet; bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until juices are clear when chicken is pierced with a fork. Combine remaining dressing and orange juice in a microwave safe bowl; heat for 30 seconds on high. Stir and serve as a dipping sauce for the chicken strips. Serves 4.

Scrumptious Strawberry Pie

I have been using my 5 Ingredients or Less cookbook a lot lately.
(or less..I know! could it be better than less than 5 Ingredients..)
Summer is a busy time and I need easy, practical, meals
I have been trying to plan out each week all of the meals (and any other
food we may be taking to a picnic or party) to try and do all of my grocery
shopping on one or two days during the week. With the girls many times I need to make
an extra trip for another gallon of milk or some fruit, but I feel like overall taking the time
to plan this is a HUGE money and time saver. And although I am a great planner,
organizing meals has always been hard for me! But in the spirit of growth :)
I am making an effort every Friday to type or write up a list of groceries to get Sat
and then Wed (if I need to) So far so good.

We had this pie last night and it was amazing
Russ has been raving about it and it literally could not be easier to make.

Ingredients:
14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
5 T lemon juice
12 oz container frozen whipped topping, thawed
(my grocery store sells 8 or 16oz, I bought the 16oz used roughly 3/4 and have extra whipped cream for my iced coffee )
1 qt. strawberries, hulled and sliced
9-inch pie crust, baked

Blend milk and lemon juice together until thick, fold in whipped topping. Add strawberries; stir gently. Spread in pie crust; refrigerate for 3-4 hours. Makes 8 servings.

(if I was bringing this to a party I would leave a few strawberries aside for a garnish on top)

Grandma's Art

I come from a very crafty family..
actually much more than crafty, very talented..
My grandmother is a very skilled painter and up until now i have not realized the value
of all of her hard work and the skill involved. Last time we were home in Michigan I was
looking through all of the painting that she has done and one just stroke me and
I fell in love! My grandma was thrilled that it was "my style" and insisted
I take it home.

I spray painted the frame to a more dramatic color and it just enhances
the painting so much. This is hanging in our office/guest room where the walls
are a sunny yellow. I am transported to a summer vacation every time I see it

Thanks Grandma!
